Welcome to the fourth music update of 2023
The Past
In the music department we had one release in April - the Europa Expanded Main Theme! This is a fun, chill, upbeat theme song that aims to capture the vast wonder and joy of one of EU4's most popular vanilla enhancement mods. Fun fact: the original plan was to adopt the Flavor Universalis theme, but I then decided that Europa Expanded deserved to have something it can truly call its own.
The second piece of big news in April was EU4 v1.35 was released and included the first practical changes to the in-game music player in a very long time. Now music is grouped in-game by its origin; be it a mod, DLC or baked into the vanilla. The good news is that all of my music mods have been updated to the new system. I also updated the Music Mod Creation Tool to support the new system, while also taking the opportunity to make a few usability improvements (filenames are no longer so restricted!).
One by-product of the new system is that all the individual music mods now clutter the music player with their individual channels. As such, my recommendation is now to use the Themes of EU4 music mod, which I keep updated with things that are not part of a larger album.
The Future
I'll keep it simple.
In <12 hours: Ante Bellum 1.9. Epic.
In approx. 7 days: Imperium Universalis. Be ready to march.
14 days after that: Extended Timeline. It's time.
Looking further into June & July: 3 more songs already scheduled.
